To The Witch City

On monday I will be leaving for a 5 days trip to the US with my family. I won't hide I am very much excited :P  We are going to visit Boston and Salem. I have been to both those cities before and enjoyed them a lot. Especially Salem.

The village of Salem is a fascinating one. It has such a tragic history, yet it is filled with a magical atmosphere. Salem has gained popularity for the infamous witch trials of 1692, an inquisition which ended in the death of 19 innocent victims who were found ''guilty'' of practicing witchcraft.

Those tragic events transformed with time into an interest for the occult and sorcery and slowly, Salem started to become a major destination for everyone interested in witchcraft and paganism. Today it is a major practicing center for wiccans and modern witches.

Despite the tragedy which made Salem famous, it is now a wonderful place to visit, it is a small, lively cheerful village where there is always full of things to do. It does sadly have a few tourist traps, but among those are some museums that are worth visiting and that retells the history of the town. There are also people everywhere dressed as characters from the history of Salem, or as witches and all that kind of stuff :P It makes the whole visit experience very lively for anyone who ventures the streets of Salem.

So these are the main reasons I fell in love with Salem the few times I went, and why I look forward to going again :D Another thing I personnaly love are the multiple shops which sell all kinds of witchraft gear and witchy, gothic stuff. I do enjoy all of those things and it is hard to keep my money when I go xD
Here is a ring I bought there last year, sexy isn't it? :P It is the pentagram of witchcraft, representing the neverending connection between the five elements : Fire, Earth, Water, Air, and above them all, Ether (or Spirit). It is also the symbol of Salem! I am wearing that ring with pride every day, and I really look forward to spending my money on that kind of things again XD

About Boston, well it is an awesome place to visit too. I feel a bit lazy to write about it now though, so I will just write about Boston when I am there. One thing I have to say is I will be visiting the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for the first time and I must say, as the passionate art student I am, I am very excited to go visit it! I am not that a fan of Paul Gauguin but I look forward to seeing is most famous painting, D'où venons-nous, Qui sommes-nous, Où allons-nous? (1897-98), which is kept in that museum :D
